Experts call for ease of doing business for economic revival

Islamabad : Dr. Erfa Iqbal, CEO, Punjab Board of Investment and Trade, has said that the Punjab government is looking forward to receiving proposals from the business community prior to finalising the provincial budget for the next financial year.
Dr. Erfa was addressing a pre-budget meeting on ‘Better business regulations’ jointly organised here line by Sustainable Development Policy Institute and National Textile University, Faisalabad.
Dr. Erfa said that the private sector has a critical role in the growth of the economy adding that all sectors of the economy need to come up with specific suggestions about taxes, business facilitation, access to infrastructure, investments, and other related aspects of doing business.

Paris: The State of Qatar participated in the Ministerial Conference for the Middle East and North Africa and Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (MENA-OECD), which was organized by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development Initiative for the Middle East and North Africa Region on Governance and Competitiveness for Development, in cooperation with the government of Tunisia, under the title “Designing a Roadmap to Recovery in the Middle East and North Africa” via visual communication technology.
Qatar’s delegation was led by Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the French Republic and Qatar’s representative to the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development, H E Sheikh Ali bin Jassim Al-Thani.
KCCI seeks fund allocation for inland waterways development

Waterways on rivers Netravati and Gurupur will spur economic activity in the region
The Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) has asked the Karnataka government to develop inland waterways on Netravati River and Gurupur River in Dakshina Kannada district, and has sought budgetary allocation for their development.
In a letter to the Director of Ports and Inland Water Transport of the Karnataka government, the President of KCCI, Isaac Vas, said that even though India’s Inland Waterways Authority has identified Netravati River as National Waterway 74 and Gurupur River as National Waterway 43, there has not been any budgetary allocation for implementing them.
